150 Years Strong

Completed in 2021 to commemorate El Dorado's 150th celebration, this mural was a partnership between Partners in Education Foundation, Inc. and Mr David Powell. El Dorado High School art students picked the design to honor the city's sesquicentennial.

Having never tackled a large-scale mural, instructors Dee Thompson and Dustin Harris reached out to some area mural artists for advice. Meanwhile, Tim Engels of Engels Property Management was kind enough to assist the project with surface preparation. For the next couple of weeks, the students dodged a few rainstorms and transformed the building’s east side. They met during school hours, after school, and even on a weekend or two to get the project completed.
