Woodland Ribbonwork

As a proud member of the Menominee and Potawatomi tribal nations, Jancita Warrington will present the vibrant cultural tradition of woodland ribbonwork.

When Indigenous peoples were displaced from their homelands around the Great Lakes to Kansas, these cherished traditions transitioned to the Prairie.

In her presentation, Jancita will:

• Share the history, symbols, and styles inherent to this art form

• Demonstrate techniques involved

• Showcase examples of her own exceptional creations

• Perform a dance specifically created for the women of the Anishinabae Nations
